Process of compassion focused therapy

Re:connectology Method

At Re:connectology, we work with the understanding that the body and mind are deeply interconnected, how we move affects how we think and feel, and vice versa. This relationship is at the heart of our integrative approach.

Our bodies carry stories shaped by experience, emotion, and habit. Tension and pain often reflect more than physical strain, they signal patterns that want to be seen and softened. We blend therapeutic movement, posture alignment, mobility work, and mindfulness to support the body in unwinding those patterns and creating space for change

At the same time, we meet the mind with the same compassion. Using breath, imagery, and reflection, we explore how thoughts and emotions shape our inner world. When we listen to both body and mind, we uncover a quiet intelligence that knows how to heal.

This isn’t about fixing, it’s about reconnecting. We’re here to support you in building clarity, resilience, and connection from the inside out.

  • Noticing and listening to the details

  • Mapping the body and inner world

  • Becoming more aware of our experience

This helps us identify what’s driving discomfort, tension, overwhelm, or disconnection.

  • Understanding why our body and mind responds the way it does

  • Identifying the the root causes

This is always understood in context: your relationships, your environment, and the demands of daily life.

My approach blends postural alignment, functional movement, and yoga therapy to release patterns of tension held in the body. I look beyond the symptoms to uncover the root cause of discomfort and understand the underlying imbalances that affect the nervous, muscular, and skeletal systems, so you can move with less effort, feel more grounded, and live with greater ease.  As the body finds alignment, the mind follows, reducing stress and creating space for clarity and presence.  I combine the clinical tools of yoga therapy with the structural focus of the Egoscue Method®. This means you’ll benefit from: A whole-body understanding of pain and posture. Gentle, functional movements that address muscular imbalances. Breath-led, mindful movement to support your nervous system. A therapy approach that respects both body and mind. This approach supports not only physical alignment but also emotional regulation and resilience.

My approach integrates Occupational Therapy with Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) to support you in navigating self-criticism, emotional overwhelm, and a sense of disconnection from what truly matters to you.Grounded in the neuroscience of emotion, the psychology of compassion, and the wisdom of yoga, we explore how the mind’s threat system, often expressed through harsh inner criticism and unrelenting standards, can take over our inner world and how we move through daily life. Together, we build compassionate insights into your patterns of thinking, doing, and being.  From this understanding, we identify what you need to take steps towards a life that feels more balanced and aligned with your values.

What is Postural Alignment Therapy?

Egoscue Posture Alignment Therapy is a holistic approach to pain relief and body balance that focuses on restoring the body’s natural alignment. The therapy is based on the idea that many chronic pain issues, such as back, neck, hip, or knee pain are often caused by misalignments in the musculoskeletal system.

Through a series of personalized movements, the therapy helps re-educate the body to move more efficiently and symmetrically. These movements target muscle imbalances and functional weaknesses, encouraging proper joint positioning and optimal movement patterns.

Posture is important because it affects nearly every aspect of your health and well-being.

What is Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)?

Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), developed by Professor Paul Gilbert, is a psychological approach designed to help people who struggle with shame, self-criticism, and overwhelming emotions. Grounded in evolutionary psychology and neuroscience, CFT recognises that many of our difficulties are not our fault, they are understandable responses shaped by our biology, life experiences, and the way our "tricky brains" have evolved to keep us safe.

CFT teaches that compassion is not about being passive or indulgent, it is a courageous, wise, and intentional way of engaging with suffering, both our own and others’. It helps us understand why we think, feel, and behave the way we do, especially when we feel stuck or under threat.

What is Sensory Intelligence?

Sensory Intelligence® is about how our senses help shape how we feel, think, and respond to the world around us. Before we can make sense of our emotions or thoughts, our brain first receives information through the body and the senses. This happens automatically and often without us realising. When our sensory system feels balanced and supported, it becomes easier to focus, manage stress and connect with ourselves and others.

What is Yoga Therapy?

Minded Institute Yoga Therapy, is a personalised, evidence-based approach that integrates yoga, mindfulness, neuroscience, and psychotherapy to support mental and physical health. It’s used to regulate the nervous system, reduce stress and rumination, and enhance well-being. Minded’s method is rooted in scientific research and delivered by highly trained professionals, making it a powerful complement to conventional healthcare.
